Gravel Built Up Roof Study

This case study shows what a typical Gravel Built Up Roof looks like when it is twelve to fifteen years old, and then after a Polyurethane Foam and the Southeastern Coating System is installed on a roof.

The Certified Installer first takes off all the loose gravel on the roof and then cleans the roof. In this case he accomplishes both by wet-vacuuming the roof. This ensures the Polyurethane Foam will adhere to the roof substrate. The foam is sprayed on the roof at a minimum of 1 1/2 inches to seal the entire roof area. Special care is taken around parapet walls and penetrations to make sure there is a tight seal.

After the foam is installed the Certified Installer applies two coats of any one of the Southeastern top coats including ACRYLIC 210, 211 or BUTYL 310, or SILICONE 510 to protect the foam from the suns Ultraviolet Rays. Without the coating the foam would quickly break down. The foam and Southeastern Coatings' systems gives the building owner not only an outstanding waterproof solution but also an R10 insulation value for his building.
